What is Passport to Prosperity?
Passport to Prosperity (P2P) is an Ontario-wide initiative created to promote the benefits of school-to-work partnerships; recruit employers to partner with schools; and provide resources to facilitate these partnerships, for the benefit of employers and high school students.
How can business get involved?
Employers can offer students a variety of work experiences. Programs range from short-term, one-day events to having a student for a whole semester (four months).
Short-Term (1 hour to 1 day)
- career talks, classroom visits
- involvement in career fairs or career days
- worksite or industry tours
Medium-Term (1 day to 4 weeks)
- job shadowing
- work experience
Longer-Term (Time commitment varies up to 18 weeks/year)
- school-work transitions
- co-operative education
- Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)
- mentoring
All students, no matter what their future destination after high school, benefit from work experience. The programs they choose will vary according to their interests and future goals. To become involved you can register on the Employer Registry web site.
What is the Employer Registry?
The Employer Registry is dedicated to bringing employers and educators together and facilitating further experiential learning opportunities from classroom career talks to co-op placements.
